Being a good Dad often involves taking your boys out for some good fishing, and catfishing is one of those awesome times that kids can have with their Dad. And when you are dealing with kids and fishing, they likely just want to catch fish, although they probably would like to catch a trophy, it’s probably more important to them to catch fish, and therefore you want to find a bait that catfish will strike, not necessarily a bait that will land that trophy catfish. I’m not going to pull your chain here, because I know from first hand experience that using shad and perch are the best baits around for monster catfish. These baits I am about to tell you about are very good for enticing catfish quickly. And I want to tell you about those other baits today.

Without any more delay, let’s talk about these other catfish enticers. Blood bait is the first bait I want to tell you about, and it just might be the best of the catfish baits for producing a lot of strikes in the shortest amount of time. Blood bait has a strong odor that catfish love, and the bait will breakdown slowly as the bait sits in the water. As the bait breaks off in the water, it will create a line of bait that catfish will follow, which will lead them right in to your hook, cool isn’t it? I remember an afternoon I was fishing a stock tank with this bait, and it seemed we pulled in a ridiculous amount of catfish.

On to the second bait in the list. And the bait is chicken livers. Chicken livers are a time tested bait that works very well for catfish. Look, catfish feed mostly by smell, and when they detect blood and guts, they go nuts! All you need to do is put a piece of this bait on a bait saver or treble hook, put a split shot or two on to keep it on the bottom, and wait for the fish. These fishing tips are just the tip of the ice burge, I have many more to come.
